Save Run

Running Preservation Society

I'm thinking about getting a small to medium size tatoo to celebrate my love for running. I already have 3 so this isn't a first for me. Any others have running tatoos or was inked to celebrate an event, a passion or purpose that was a driving force in your life at that time/year? You know in this sometimes crazy life we live in we all have to do something to thank the gods above for pulling us through yet another challenge (marathon) etc,
What do you all think?

As someone that has several tattoos, I have thought of a few but have yet to get one done. There are too many different ways to go. But I'm leaning towards the foot with wings or a bar graph that goes to 10 or 20k miles and fill it in every 1k. I have a tattoo on the back of my leg of the Umbrella Corporation logo from Resident Evil to represent my time in the Army (gots lots o shots and drugs when deploying). It has my birth day in bar code as well. I put it there so when I pass runners they would see it and if the reconized the symbol they would know that I had been mutated to run faster.....a big laugh for me

I have 5 tattoos and all have significant meaning to me. The one that represents my passion for running is a pair of stylized wings on my ankles.

oh! i've thought about getting wings too! but i won't copy yours. i've thought about mercury's winged feet too, but i'm pretty sure i wouldn't be the only one who had that.... did it hurt to get inked on you ankles? did it affect your running at all?

That's pretty much what I've got (I call them my Hermes wings) and it hurt a bit because it's right near the bone (but not as much as the one that crosses my spine). It didn't stop me from running because it's just above my shoe line.

I have my leg done, from my knee to my ankle. It took two sittings and 9 1/2 hours to complete. Not only did I run the next day each time I hiked up Half Dome the weekend it was finished. There was a bit of swelling from the tattoo but there was no problem running.

i was thinking about getting one on my foot but i was told that would probably throw a wrench in my running schedule for a week...

anyone else here have one on their foot?

I know a few tattoo artists and they all say the same thing.....not only is it tender it takes a while to heal. As Pete said you will have to wear sandals at least a week if not longer. By the sound of thing you may go crazy not being able to run for that long.

i've been kicking around the idea of getting a smallish "om" tattoo. for those who arent familiar, om is considered to be "the supreme and most sacred syllable... it represents the union of mind, body and spirit and is also believed to be the spoken essence of the universe."
ever since i learned its significance, those two little letters have meant a great deal to me. im excited to do it. it will be my first. now if only i could decide where to put it... =)
