Ok, so for the past week or so my energy levels have been almost non-existent. It's like my body just doesn't want to cooperate. I've got some ideas for fighting it, but does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be or what to do about it? I mean, it's like from the moment I wake up in the morning until I go to bed at night. My body also feels a little more sore than usual - which is weird, because I rarely get sore at this point. Any nutrients I might be missing? Or something? I'm getting kinda weirded out... I'm taking my rest day early this week in hopes of giving my body a boost, but it's KILLING me, because I hate rest days, lol. Somebody help!

I think it might have something to do with my eating... I recently relocated back to my home town for a couple of months to teach, and my family does NOT eat the same as I typically do! I usually eat mostly organic, and keep the protein intake pretty limited. I went off on my own for lunch today and got a lot of fresh fruit and veggies and some good bread, and definitely felt some relief after that. Hopefully this will prove to be an easy fix, but I still went ahead and made an appointment with my doctor just to be sure because it was baaaad this morning.

usually when i feel like that it's 'cause i haven't taken a rest day in a month or two and things just catch up with me. i can't stand rest days either so it really takes a lot of pain and fatigue and craptastic workouts for me to be like "oh, hey, i should just lay off today..."

but taking what you're eating into consideration... i bet the change from good food to whatever it is you're eating now is a huge culprit. i hope it's that easy of a solution!

Sounds like your diet might definitely be the culprit. Changes like the one you described can definitely wreak havoc on your body.

Found out it's low glucose levels. No more processed sugars or simple carbs for this girl. Sigh. But at least I feel like myself again, and won my race this morning!

It could be so many things. The first thing I would suggest is to listen to your body even though you don't like what it says, rest. The second is that if you really feel that abnormal, out of sorts or whatever you want to call it, you should see your doctor for a check up and give them a list of your supplements to see if there is something you may want to add or stop using. Along with that you may consider keeping a food diary. Write down everything you eat and drink and see if there is any specific type of food or drink that is adding to your problem. Hope you feel stronger soon.

How often do you schedule a cut-back week? You should plan on running only about 75% of your normal mileage (with no speedwork or long runs) about one week per month to allow your body time to heal. Remember, you don't get stronger during the workouts, you get stronger when your body recovers and damaged muscle fibers are rebuilt and repaired.

it might also be because of low iron levels. it prevents the body from creating hemoglobin that helps carry oxygen to the cells.

41:19, but the interesting thing is that two weeks later, I ran a half marathon that was on the same course as the 10k (just rearranged a bit, with a few miles added), and if I had run the 10k at the same pace I ran my half marathon, I would have go…
