Save Run

Running Preservation Society

This would probably be best in the Ultrarunners group, but I decided to throw it out here, because some non-ultra runners may have an answer for me as well.
My father is turning 50 in a year and a half, and wants to run a 50 miler that year, and has asked me to do it with him. He runs marathons, but has never run that far, and I've only done it once (JFK 50 miler). Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows of any good courses. JFK is out, because he doesn't want to go up to Maryland to do it, so we're looking at the Texas area, or the Florida area, so only one of us has to travel instead of both of us. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to check out the ultra-running online calendar. It's organized by region and is pretty comprehensive so you should definitely be able to find a race or two to do. If you guys are up for some high altitude stuff there's few here in CO that are pretty awesome. Good luck!!

Thanks, it's funny, but looking through this, I found a 50km trail run in my area on a trail that I literally just discovered two days ago, and really enjoyed running... I may have to train for this one on my own.

I found a few that look interesting, so this definitely helps. Like I said, I've only done one of these before, but I'm looking forward to knocking another one out. It will be cool doing it with my father near his 50th birthday. I only hope I can do something like that when I'm 50 as well.

41:19, but the interesting thing is that two weeks later, I ran a half marathon that was on the same course as the 10k (just rearranged a bit, with a few miles added), and if I had run the 10k at the same pace I ran my half marathon, I would have go…
