So, this is the third time I've heard something like this in the past year, but a friend of mine was talking about running a 5k, and she made some sort of reference to running 3.14 miles, which is, of course, Pi, instead of a 5k. Any other funny comments people heard about running?
omg welcome to my life. literally. every person i know asks me "how long is this marathon?" ummmm if they were different lengths...try n follow me here i know im losin ya but...pretty sure it wouldnt have a definition or 1 word to describe it...maybe race...bc that makes sense "how long is this race" but not "how long is this marathon" marathon =26.2.
i actually have had to explain that to almost every person i know. dumb people. i just want to say to them holy shit i dont know i dont think this marathon ends. and no its not a conversation starter just to be friendly and act interested in what i do. its a get my heaters warmed up and take me from 0-100 in a blink starter bc youre that stupid.
everyone knows how long a marathon is. so stop acting stupid people.
I've gotten this one before, I'm thinking about starting to just give completely random numbers in the future to see what they say.
"How long is this marathon"
"21 miles, 262 feet and 5.5 inches, why do you ask?"
I just remembered this (while running), but the season premiere of The Office last season was a great episode for stupid running comments. Even if you don't like the show, it's worth watching as a runner. Steve Carrel sponsors the first annual Race for the Cure for Rabies. It's got a lot of great lines in it, and scenes that relate to running, and all the ridiculous things people say and do.
YES!!! I agree it's my favorite episode. It's packed with stuff I'm sure went over the average viewers head. Actually Steve looks like he might be a runner.
"whats your strategy for winning this race?"
"well im just going to start out fast, run fast in the middle and end fast."
"omg, why doesnt everyone do that?"
"idk, bc they are stupid."
people at work do that to me all the time. usually its followed by "are you hungry? can i take you to mcdonalds?" OR its followed by some lame excuse as to why they cant run...lame. welllll i have a bad back. shhhhyeah its bc youre 40 lbs over weight. pretty sure the track is on your side, just a guess.
negative :( we got a bunch of snow and my friends girlfriend actually got snowed in down in the colorado springs (near pike's peak) so we decided to stay closer to home.
