Save Run

Yeah, I know it's about the race. But I can run a time trial on my own. If I'm going to shell out $30-$60 for a race, I want something more than a shirt featuring 100 sponsors logos. I don't even need the technical shirt - I'll buy the gear I want, thank you. Just give me a good quality cotton shirt that I want to wear in public that has a unique, attractive graphic on it that's a nice memento from the race. Don't just use me as a sponsor billboard. I have enough garage painting shirts already.

From 1-10, how important is a good race shirt to you? What's your favorite?

8. If i get there the morning of and i see a race shirt and it is not worth getting, i just run bandit, because i dont want to pay 20$ to 30$ to run a race and a crappy shirt. Although a good cause that touches me i will fork up the dough. I do Prefer if they are color. and a cool design.

I have to say that a good race shirt is about an 8. I mean, lets face it... as long as its a tech shirt, its good enough for me. I mean, I'm a racing pragmatist... just so long as it does the job. The illinois marathon has a fantastic tech shirt that has only the logo for the race on the front and nothing else. I thought that was neat. However, that's a rarity. I personally don't care too much... just so long as its not a cheap shirt that looked like it was made from an iron... if its not that, then I'm fine.

its not that important to me but it's so disappointing when they're ugly. the georgetown to idaho springs half has just about the worst ones i've ever seen... it looks like in the 80's they had a group of retarded kids just scribble out like 50 different designs and they've been drawing from those each year to see what goes on the shirt. they're awful. i've heavily considered contacting the race director to see if they'd let me make the design.

41:19, but the interesting thing is that two weeks later, I ran a half marathon that was on the same course as the 10k (just rearranged a bit, with a few miles added), and if I had run the 10k at the same pace I ran my half marathon, I would have go…
