Save Run

Running Preservation Society

OK folks. This is a very unserious post, one of those things you'd almost use as an icebreaker. What is your most serious post-race, post-longrun cravings. One of those things you wouldn't normally eat just off-the-cuff but you do after a race or a longrun (heck, it can be after a hard workout).

For me, after a race of anything over 5 miles, its usually a beer with a cinnamon bagel with some rasberry smear. Other times, its an "ultimate nachos" from Denny's with their awesome queso sauce. One time after a marathon, I ate a dozen donuts. So my question: what is your flava???

Ice cream after anything longer than a 10K race always works well for me, although not really a craving as such.

I do however like a few chunks of dark chocolate a couple of hours after a hard interval session, (is there any other type?)

I did an 18 miler once, where for the last 4 miles or so, all I could think about was how much I wanted a YooHoo. I haven't had a YooHoo probably for over 10 years until that day, and I haven't had one since, but man did that YooHoo taste delicious that day.

Oh, and on a similar note, after the Disney World Marathon, I stopped at Ihop on the way home. I usually get hungry after a marathon, so I ordered the endless pancakes. The waitress brought them out, I took two bites, and realized that my stomach just couldn't handle it that day, and payed my bill and left. I could actually see the disappointment in the waitresses eyes as I only ate two bites of my endless pancackes.

41:19, but the interesting thing is that two weeks later, I ran a half marathon that was on the same course as the 10k (just rearranged a bit, with a few miles added), and if I had run the 10k at the same pace I ran my half marathon, I would have go…
