I currently wear the Asics Gel-Nimbus 10 and want to get some new shoes soon. The Nimbus 11's weigh 3.5 ounces more than the 10's so I don't want to get them. Is there anyone who is a neutral runner who can give me some ideas of what to buy next?

Yes, Mizuno Waver rider 12's are phenomenal shoes. The site

Gives them a good rating. In addition, if you get them at a retail store, Finish line is the cheapest. Very cushy and my favorite part is that they are very close to the ground and very responsive. Its odd because the 11's sucked. I honestly didn't like the nimbus 10's. I think asics makes a good stability and support shoe. But I'm not pleased with their neutral shoe. Their foam is way too unstable in my mind. It was designed for a beginning runner who heel-strikes.

Having said that. heather won a marathon running in the 11's.

that's what i run in! yay! that's funny 'cause the 11's seem lighter than the 10's... hmmmmm. anyway. i used to run in the mizuno wave rider and they were pretty comparable (they make another one called the wave creation that the folks at the shoe store said was one i could try) and they're cheaper which is nice. ask cody - i think she said she just started running in the mizunos.

I looked at Zappos.com and it said the 10's were 10 oz. and the 11's were 13.5 oz. Anyway, I was looking at the Saucony Grid Sinister they're only 9 oz. I may try those Mizunos. Choices choices.

The mizuno's are a great shoe. I think the big difference between them and the nimbus' is that you pretty much have to be a midfoot striker. If you do heel to toe, you might wanna go elsewhere. I like them because they are closer to the ground.

One thing to remember Andrea, lighter doesn't always mean faster. I changed from Nimbus 10's to Wave rider 11's and lost 20 seconds to my miles. I might as well have been wearing stilleto heels. I remember that race, I finished... took off my shoes and threw them into a nearby trash can. Mizuno's are extremely different cuz they are lighter, they are actually good. No clue how that happens. I find the waveplate to be much more stable than the gel pockets.

You might also wanna try the Landreth 5's if you're a diehard asics gal.

41:19, but the interesting thing is that two weeks later, I ran a half marathon that was on the same course as the 10k (just rearranged a bit, with a few miles added), and if I had run the 10k at the same pace I ran my half marathon, I would have go…
