How do your 10k times look? My best time on record is 42 something... I ran one on inside and did in about 41 minutes and my goal is to get under 40 this summer.

Hi Heather, my best time is 58 which is a poor time for a man, except for someone who have lung troubles, which is my case. My goal is to get under 50. I will run 12,5K this sunday (http://www.maratonhebraica.com). So, I'll tell you.

lung troubles? that doesn't sound too fun... good luck with your race!

I'm 45 years old and before April of last year had never ran more than one mile in my life. I ran a 10K last june in just over an hour. My 5K times have dropped by 6 or 7 minutes since then so I expect to do better this year. The same 10K is coming up in two weeks and theres another one this Sunday that my wife and I may run, unless it's a pouring rain in which case i'm staying in bed. It took a long time to get this slow, but I see a lot of people a lot older that me running a lot faster than me so I guess there is plenty of time to work on it.

I'm running about a 52 min. 10k, and a 24:30 5k. I hope I can get better this summer with some distance training, tempos, and speedwork. I really want to get under 50 min. for a 10k and 22 min. for a 5k.

42 is great! I love the 5K's and hope to get back into the 18's soon.

Happy Running,

Went from a 55 two years ago - to a 49.55 last year in the same race to a 45.01!!!! this year.
what did it for me?
- lost 18 lbs over two years
- tempo runs
- consistently trained at 80% of my max HR
- track work the last 60 days
- instead of two 3 or 5 milers each week I stepped it up to three 5 or 8 milers every other day
- everytime I ran I imagined myself kickin' the butt of the guy who's been talking trash at the office!

My best 10k time is 39.11. My last 10k, the first one since my bout with pneumonia this spring, was 45.34. that was about a month ago. I have been doing great on my milage I am back to where I was in March. My speed is still lacking, but greating progressivly better.

I am 29 and my best 10k is a 28:42, and for a 5k my best time is 15:57. My only problem is deployments and not getting to run much and and having to struggle to get back on to it and deeling with ITBS.

My best time is 40:40, my goal is to go under the 40 min i was near. For this race i was doing a speedwork that i got from one of the running mags and it worked really good. From 48 to 40..
