My running partner and I like to travel around and do halfs in different cities besides just our local events in the San Francisco Bay area. It is a great way to travel and combine our love of running! Recently we did the Las Vegas Half(what a hoot!) and the Big Sur Half down in Monterey,Ca. Monterey is a lovely run very scenic by the ocean. Just curious about other runners favorite race locations!

georgetown to idaho springs half marathon (in colorado, about an hour or so west of denver) was really nice. it goes along a frontage road between these two mining towns... the scenery is nice and it's just a really pleasant atmosphere.

OK, first off I have to say that this was not a half marathon, it was 10.5 miles. The race did not offer the distance. But any way it was a trail race in Big Basin Ca. You ran thru a redwood forest for a while then the field thinned and I was alone for 3 miles running thru these winding rolling hills and along a river (that was the best part of the run) it was insanely colorful and peaceful. The only sounds where my foot strikes my breathing and the river running. Then I came across the first of two water falls, it was breath taking. To get past the second water fall you had to climb up these stone steps right next to the fall. This run is my favorite race so far it was had all the things that make a race good (at least to me). It had great staff, well marked route, well stocked aid stations, awesome trail with spectacular views and great people. If all goes well I'll be doing this race again at the end of this month.

Grandma's Half Marathon in Duluth, MN was a gorgeous run. Mostly flat on a nice tar road, small town feel, Lake Superior on the left, and amazing encouragement along the entrire course. The race starts at 6 am, so it is cool and breezy for most of the race.
I will run this one as long as I can!

The Redrock Half hosted by Calico Racing. They host the event/race going both ways around the scenic loop & I love both. I love the hills & the amazing sights the whole way around Challenging & Peaceful at the same time

I don't have a favorite, but this year I really enjoyed the Napa to Sonoma Half primarily for the location and post race activities; Free Wine tasting! I would highly recommend this one to anyone that is looking for a place to spend a few days (post race) to enjoy the surroundings and wineries.

I would recommend the America's Finest City Half because the area is wonderful and it will set you up for a real fast time because most of the course is dead flat.

My favorite so far is the Fleet Week Half in Norfolk, VA.

I think I've found a new location for myself. Its the Illinois Marathon in Champaign Urbana. It was an inagural. The expo was huge, I got to meet Dick Beardsley and got a whole bunch of goodies in my goodie bag. Including a nice longsleeve Tech shirt. The course was insanely fast. The crowds were phenomenal. I think its because its a college town where nothing happens. But at the same time, I think its also because it was a community embracing its own race, rather than putting up with it. I enjoyed it a lot.

I enjoy the Trail Run that is held in Pinkney, Michigan. Route is all hills, rocks, roots, and mud this year.

It was a great run until about mile 10. Then I ran out of steam for tackling some of the hills. But I finished, and that was always my goal.
