Save Run

Running Preservation Society

I'm going to be running the Walt Disney World Marathon, less by choice, and more by necessity. Due to my schedule, it's literally the only marathon I'm going to be able to run in the next 7-8 months, so that's what I'm going to be doing. However, I looked up a list of marathon's ranked by percentage of people who qualify for Boston (which is my goal with this one), and I saw that Disney World was second to last, with only some 3%. Does anyone know if this is because it's a bad course, or is that it attracts more of the "I'm going to run a marathon, even if it takes me 7 hours" types, being that it's Disney World and all.

Also, what do you think are some of the fastest courses out there?

My ex-gf and her best friend are signed up to run this. From what I've seen, I think the fact that it's in Disney and it's billed as sort of a real, fun marathon with all the Disney characters and whathaveyou, a lot of people run this for the fun of it. I hear it's a fairly alright course, a few uphills mostly when you run on on-ramps or the like.

Having only one run, I can't say for definite, but I ran the Shamrock in Va Beach, and I have to say, it was pretty flat and there wasn't a whole lot of headwind on the boardwalk sections, I think it can lend itself to a fast time. Statistically, I find the Hudson-Mohawk River Marathon in upstate NY is one of the best as far as BQ%, I wanted to run that this year but my training went to shit over the summer

Hey, this is a late response but have you looked at the North Olympic Discovery Marathon? It's in early June in Port Angeles,Wa. This is by far the easiest course I've done and it's a BQ. Nice small event with amazing support, you get a personal assistant at the finish.
