ps. Did you jog the entire race? No, and your effort from beginning to end was true runner style, unlike jogging, half assing it, which is not. :-) LOVE, LAUGH, & RUN

Hey Andrew, No, you did not jog. The term "jog" is first off, relative--and can be a consequence, not the original plan. When runners participating in the marathon "wind up" "jogging" (it's all relative with what one considers jogging) it is beca...

About Me:
I began running competitively in high school- was never too excited about the whole distance aspect of cross country and focused more on track until the summer before my freshman year of college when I fell in love with abnormally long distances. I ran my first marathon, Richmond's in Nov '08 and am registered for my 2nd marathon, Marine Corps Marathon in Oct of '09 on my 21st birthday!

i do double workouts every day. im running very high-mile weeks. i would agree with running the long runs as they are essentially what teaches you everything you need to know about you as a runner. how your body and mind will react and everything in between. the most knowledge ive gained is through experience. i have read that most elite women marathoners do strength train every day. kara goucher for example runs 115 mile weeks and does 2-a-days, lifting after either run as well. the thing about adding in more long runs is that it doesnt work on your pace or tempo, some marathoners will only do up to 14 milers. a shorter more intense workout MAY benefit a runner as much as a less intense longer run. i never go more than 3 days without a speed or fartlek workout. i red line almost every other day. i shot for a 3:30 my last marathon but ended up with a 3:37. i actually hope to run a 3 flat marathon at the fargo may 9th. i, like you, feel more confident as the marathons pass. my pace is dead on 6:50/mile right now and im not red lining so i feel great about. i think shooting for a specific time is almost always setting up your own funeral. its hard not to though! for you id recommend a tempo a speed and long run weekly. lifting and cross training(bike or elip) on your off days. so youre running every other day 3 days running 2 days cross training and 2 days off...when you lift dont worry about how much weight. light weights small reps is great for runners. shooting for a 4 is a great goal and dont push yourself just enjoy the runs. i dont drink at all but i see no problems unless you do it often. stretch a lot and just always remember why you started running. sometime youll get burnt out and thats ok. every one does! i have tons of tips and secrets on running. so keep me updated on your training. im curious to see how your marathon goes!! youll do awesome!

i do 2 workouts a day. it usually ends up being around 2 hours of running. i ran the denver marathon last oct and trained for that since jan of 08, training for the denver i didnt lift weights at all. i dropped strength training completely to focus on endurance. i am training for the fargo marathon may 9th and peaked early, which blows and id recommend not doing. but since it happened i started lifting weights and working on very intense tempo runs. like today im running 30 minutes at a 7.5 or 7.6 on a treadmill, lifting for 30 minutes then another 30 on the treadmill at the same pace. then tonight ill run an hour and maybe work on balance with a bosu ball.
i dont have a diet...wish i had the self control for that. are you having any difficulties with any part of your training?

The doughnut run is so amzing, first you start out eating a doughtnut then run a lap, and you repeat this until you throw up, if you do not complete the 400 in given time, do not eat doughnut in give time, or bitch out. you are out.
