I have been running in a set of five-fingers for going on two years now. In regards to having to have smooth technique, you are right. By using them your feet are better able to give feedback about your gait. I was a brute force runner when I star...

I fantasize about that. I am always watching those cars coming near the crosswalk wondering if I'll get the chance.

Yea, I have the normal "Run Forrest Run!" banter, but then there are more escalated circumstances such as being mooned by a car driving past. I, of course, stopped and mooned them back. Not sure whether they saw or not. In truth, I cause more cri...

About that CO2 thing...You only need a fraction of the air you breathe in, so when you breathe out, you're still breathing out a ton of oxygen. That's why CPR is effective vice pushing CO2 into someone's lungs. Get what I'm saying? You're thinking...

Oh btw... I ran a 5k 2 months after I started running. 6 months later, I ran my second race, a half marathon. There are some lunatics like me who do that. I knew it would be hard, but I didn't mind.

OK, I'm gonna play devils advocate... I started running in january of 2008, I was 200 pounds. 10 months later, and 50 pounds less, in only my 4th road race ever, I ran a sub 4 on my first marathon. So some people are quick bloomers to the sport an...

Its a lot like Boston is the end of the evolutionary chain. Lets think of it this way. Its a progression... as life is: Stages of life: 1) you go from crawling to hobbling/first steps 2) you go from walking/stumbling to walking and running from mo...

Runners: Sexual Appeal, Sexuality and the like.

I've always felt that runners, for the most part, tend to be more attractive than non-athletic or run-of-the-mill athletes. Girl's are cheerier, straightforward, decisive and likable, plus good bodies despite some looking a little too thin at times. And guys are obviously fit and usually don't look ugly, but can be kinda goofy looking. Basically, even if not every one of us isn't the hottest thing on earth, we don't look half bad, most of the time.

I really can't think of any running chick I wo… Continue

Joggers Talking about their Marathon Training in my Workplace

I have a desk job. Not a lot of fun, but it doesn't exactly stress me out and, being military, I get off an hour early on some days to go work out (on my own). For the last 3 weeks, I have had to listen to two folks talk about their marathon training daily. We talk very elitist-like on this site a lot, but I'm not that kind of person. I am very happy that this guy and gal are getting out there and running. It's a great experience and we often try sharing running with our family and friends. My p… Continue

Boston...And Marathons in General

I have never run a marathon. Maybe that's my problem. I love my halves and 10ks. I'm not elite by any means, but I am pretty darn good at those distances. Boston is tomorrow and I have been reading articles and hearing buzz about it from many sources, mostly Runner's World. While they have become increasingly tailored to beginners, they occasionally have stuff relevant to my interests.

The point I want to get out is everyone sees Boston as a holy grail, as a race at the Olympic level. I don't c… Continue

Sights and Sounds

I recently decided to take a camera out with me for a run and record what interesting sights I might come across. I have to say it was a good experience. Although, now that I think about it, recording all my trespassing probably wasn't the best idea. Regardless, I have always wanted to share what I love about running with my friends who can't figure out why I do it.

I feel that I did a decent job of compiling my video, but plan to continue doing this in different places and share the places I d… Continue

18 miles ran for love?

I just signed up for an 18 miler in Dallas. An 18 miler I don't care to run. Why? Simple: A girl.

We were together in high school in Houston (area). She goes to DC for college. I join the Navy and end up in Hawaii. After 2 years of trying to make the long distance thing work, she breaks it off. I know I should probably get over it, but we're still best friends and I can't help but love her and think that she still wants to be with me too. So, I'm going home in Feb/Mar and she's going to visit h… Continue
