Just read the latest article about your mission and subsequent awards. Congratulations!! Really amazing that you're out there doing that stuff!! Are you in line to get deployed again any time soon or do you have something else coming up?

Sounds like you get a bit of a traveling break finally, maybe get some time to relax or something to that effect. I haven't been running much either since I got bit by the climbing bug but that might have to change.

i definitely understand about the videos; my brother brought some of the raids they did and it was pretty crazy. not sure if i was supposed to see it but he showed me. yeah active.com is not too great. have you tried looking up running clubs of some sort? sometimes they have info for races that the big sites don't. out here there's a free mag called rocky mountain sports that's puts out a mega race calendar in February. there's so much in there it's pretty ridiculous. maybe there's something similar in your area. i'm trying to decide if i want to take the plunge and try a 100 miler next summer or stick with 50 another year. tough call since i get carried away during the ski season. take a look at this site. it's sort of the companion to the crossfit deal but it might give you some workouts to try with your limited time. take care.

thanks for the link to the article. it's nice to see information that's not tainted by the general media. are they quoting you in the article? with all sincerity, what you do is astounding and it's cool to know that people are coming back because of your work. it's taken me time to appreciate the military but I'm glad that i can. are you planning on sticking with it until you can retire from active duty? you oughta sign yourself up for some trail runs for when you get back; tell your dad to sponsor you for some races or something for
christmas :-) stay safe out there in the mean time. hopefully they get you guys some good grub for christmas too.

About Me:
I love running and always have. I have run all over the world. I have run in some of the most beautiful places along with some of the harshest places. I like to camp, bike, play soccer, swim, fish, water ski, and spend any time i can with my family. My fastest mile 4:31, 2 mile 9:57, 5k 15:57, 10 miler 57:12. The longest I have ever run for was 6 hours in the mountains just well because I could. Dont ask why other than to run to the top of some mountains. I have not been able to run competive for a few year now because of my job and injuries that have come with my job, however four operations later on my I.T. Bans and I am back up and running and carring heavy loads. My latest 2 mile time with no practice or speed training is at a 11:20. If I had to pick between running on a road or off the road and in the woods it would be off the road on a trail in the woods hands down. I beleive being fit is one of the more important things is life along with being educated, but family is first.

Getting back in to the swing of things!

This weekend I went out for a long run with my buddy and well what was supposed to be a 1 hr run turned in to almost 2 hrs. We went out to LBL ( Land Between the Lakes) and started on one of the single track trails and some how managed to get off of it due to all the fallen trees and branches from the big ice storm in Feb. So after some trail blasing and land nav using the sun, moss on trees and sound we found our way to the main road and ran it the rest of the way in. All in all it was a good r… Continue

PART II For Those Who Care Support / Article and Video

Here is a small look at a what my small platoon does out here north eastern Afghanistan. There is a news clip and news vidoe to read and look at. Hope everyone has a good Christmas and Happy New Year. I will be out of here shortly and it will feel so good to be home. Thinking of doing the Nashville run in April. Kinda pumped about it but I have to get back to running daily again.

For those who care to watch or support.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warbriefing/view/1.html

This is a six part series on what is going now here in Afghanistan. Not much to do with running even though there is a lot of running being done over here, but not recreational. For the Soldiers here in the N2K or the north eastern part of Afghanistan that boarders Pakistan it is a tough fight. For me it is a tough battle to safe lives. The American public are not up to speed on the who, what, and why here any more besides the news… Continue
