extreme mileage would be really fun but definitely not a option for me right now. i've just got to try it sometime though. right now my goal is that my foot will be okay for me to start running 6 days a week not just 4 and cross training one and swimming the other

wow very nice. i knew that more miles were better i've just never came across too many people that have went over 50 or 60. its going to take forever for me to get to my normal millage with just the 10% increase. but i've been able to run way more then last year when i almost lost my feet so we'll hope that shows come track time.

30 still isn't the 50 im used to running though lol. why do you need to get your miles up that much more? my coach only ran 50 a week before all of his marathons and they only want me to build up to 50 tops a week.

i'm sure you'll do awesome. 45-50 miles sounds alot better then the 25-30 the doctor is letting me run with my foot right now. i make up the extra miles in biking and running swim workouts but its just not the same. but i did just get released today to start building that up some more which makes me very happy :) that really sucks that its still bothering you though. i had some quad trouble last year after xc season but it wasn't anything like what your dealing with.

i've gotten stuff from the university of nebraska, wisconsin, southern mississippi, new mexico, missouri, georgia tech, iowa state. there 's more that are d1 but im not sure on some of them since i haven't heard of them before. i was going to do alot more looking at them over the holidays but some things came up and i still haven't got it done. im super busy with work till after the 15th but hopefully when i get that stuff for that done i'll be able to, hopefully.

major colleges as in state schools or all the ones that are D1? my letters are at my sisters place i was filling them out up there. she's bringing them back for me tonight though. i've got my work cut out for me checking these places out some of them my dad hasn't even heard of and he knows next to everything. well not quite but it seems that way most of the time. hopefully one will just jump out at me and it won't be to hard.

congrats on getting accepted thats awesome. im just a junior but i've gotten tons of stuff from colleges. im up to around 30 offers now and have no clue where i want to go. it will probably be somewhere warm since i have so much trouble when it gets cold. its a really good thing im not a senior yet because i still need the time to think about it. it won't be the air force though i can't do that type of thing i would freak and run away. i can run on broken feet and push it till almost death but i just dont have the guts for anything like that. its geat that you do. i just want to own a restaurant it sounds much safer.

my town lacks trails as well. i run in the grass between the sidewalk and the road which is anything but hole free. i have no clue what i could've run if i had someone to pace with. i never got the chance to find that out all season. it took me awhile to figure out how to race aginst myself. the first few races of the season i would finish knowing i still had some left. by the end i got it figured out but still having a real person next to me and not just me pretending that there was someone on my sholder might have pushed me more. i know i gave it my all at state though. it just makes me wonder what if

yeah i agree. we're 4a for track and i get to go up against the top girls (i've beat one of them and its pretty much my life time goal to catch the other one) but in xc we're 3a. i won all my races by over 30 sec most of them by over a minute which i cant say wasn't fun. but i would have liked to race the girls in 4a. the one 4a meet we went to they didn't show. at state the on that i've beat in track ran a faster time then me but i cant help but wonder if i would have been able to catch her if i had been racing with her.

After college I want to get a boarder collie. They're one of the smartest breeds and they can run for miles.

I never really had anyone to train with during high school besides the occasional running partner, but those came and went. Now that I'm actually training with a team (the vast majority of whom are much faster than me) I've seen my times drop a lo...

I have invested in Mizuno's Breath Thermo line of winter clothing. I am not disappointed. I wear a base layer with a breath thermo top. I'm not into tights, I wear thin or fleece pants (like windbreaker, crosstraining, etc...) Also, I have Mizuno ...

My best workout was on my sunday long run. I ran with an Ipod for the first time in forever and I ended up starting faster than I expected, with my first mile about 6:40. As I got into the run I started accelerating and at halfway I was averaging ...

Hot

Today the national weather service issued a heat wave advisory, meaning the heat index is up to 110...plus it is so damn humid running is nearly impossible. I've run through a hurricane so I'll face almost any type of weather, but heat stroke is not cool, especially when you can get heat stroke from running at 10 at night.

Fun fact of the week, in 4 days I will be leaving florida for colorado springs and the air force academy. not a bad change in weather, though I will be going through basic tr… Continue

Dogs

So today I went on a 7 mile run on some dirt roads (because panama city doesn't have ANY trails). I was running past some random house and a couple of dogs come running out to the road. I sped up a little because I though, like most dogs, they would just chase me until I was out of their territory. But instead of barking or chasing me they just ran with me. For 6 miles. It was an out and back course so they stopped when I got back to their house but I was pretty happy to have a couple of running… Continue

The End

My high school running career has finally come to an end.

I placed 6th at regions, running a 4:33 mile. I felt pretty good after it and I'm sure I could have gone faster and advanced...but I didn't. First lap was in 67 seconds, I was in about 4th place. Second lap no one really pushed at all so it was a 69. At the start of the third lap the clusterfuck started. Everyone and their mother surged. I tried to speed up with them but got boxed in around the first bend. I went from fourth to 9th place… Continue

Big day!!!

So tomorrow is the district track meet, and it's kind of a big deal. Top 4 from each event advance to the regional meet, top 4 at regions advance to the state meet. So this is the first step on the path to success. Unfortunately it is one hell of a big step.

I run the mile and the 2 mile. In the mile we have a kid who runs a 4:15, a kid who runs a 4:20 and a kid who runs a 4:30. I run a 4:35 so that doesn't give me much leeway in case I missed someone who would come and kick my ass. The 2 mile… Continue

Music?

I know there was big debate about whether runners listened to music while running. I used to be anti-music, but today for my long run I was rockin' out to some hardcore shit. All that remains, bullet for my valentine, underoath and so on. I ran 12 seconds slower than my half marathon pr on a 13.1 mile course. Thats 6:19 a mile, averaging 5:57 the second half with no rest. Thats pretty damn fast for a training run, i don't care who you are. I think I might start running to music some of the time… Continue

The doughnut run is so amzing, first you start out eating a doughtnut then run a lap, and you repeat this until you throw up, if you do not complete the 400 in given time, do not eat doughnut in give time, or bitch out. you are out.
