so i ran my first 10k in nearly a year. yes, of course i won. but i have no idea how. my time was crap - i made it to the 10k point in a half marathon at altitude nearly two minutes faster than i did this morning at a lower elevation and on a flatter (except two pretty painful hills at the end) course. i'm not complaining. wait, yes i am. it's just a little frustrating.

but all's well. got me an "uber-sexy" race shirt... well, that's what the race's web site said. i gotta say, though, they did a damn good job on the design.

it was only the 2nd year they've had this and as one might expect, there were a few problems (parking was pretty amazingly not one of them!): nobody was sure where the potties were, there were supposed to be different start times for the 5k and 10k but then they decided to put them together (at the very last minute) which didn't really matter but if you thought you were starting later and then you weren't there in time that'd suck, everyone in front initially went the wrong way for about a block 'cause the course wasn't marked well at the start, the course seemed a little long (which is NOT suprising... you can't f'ing put bkb in charge of anything!), nobody knew where the times were posted (not even the race staff)... and that's all i can think of. oh! and the first two miles smelled like wet dog and dead cow. so. that kinda grossed me out.

okay... no more complaints. i got an awesome parking space, got a great shirt, had a good time, and should be getting some kinda prize in the mail here... :)

41:19, but the interesting thing is that two weeks later, I ran a half marathon that was on the same course as the 10k (just rearranged a bit, with a few miles added), and if I had run the 10k at the same pace I ran my half marathon, I would have go…
